Hynix Demonstrates World's First 16GB DDR3 2-Rank R-DIMM Memory at IDF
Among the other hardware demonstrated at IDF, Hynix Semiconductor also made a shocking release of what's believed to be the world's first 16GB 2-Rank R-DIMM. Using MetaRAM's new DDR3 technology, Hynix’s new 16GB (HMT32GR7AER4C-GD) and 8GB (HMT31GR7AER4C-GC) 2-rank DIMMs can triple DDR3 memory capacity in today's servers and workstations. DDR3 MetaRAM is similar to the previous generation of DDR2 technology that enables significantly more memory in a server. An added benefit of the DDR3 MetaRAM technology is that enables larger memory capacity without negatively impacting the operating frequency of the DDR3 memory channel. It is the only technology that has been demonstrated to run 24GB of DDR3 SDRAM in a channel at 1066 million transactions per-second (MT/s). Using 3 of 16GB DIMM, users can achieve 48GB per channel running at 1066 MT/s, while other competing solutions max out at 16GB per channel at 1066MT/s. Later on during the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in San Francisco Intel will demonstrate a server with 160GB (10 slots) of Hynix's DDR3 R-DIMMs
We had a chance to take a picture of a fully operational Nehalem, Bloomfield sample at 3.2GHz. We managed to take the picture from both sides and we can tell that the chip looks pretty much like any other Intel chip.
The socket 1366 has pins while the CPU doesn't. This baby will be known as Core i7

already reported at the end of past month that during the first days of September AMD will lower the prices of its desktop processors.
Let us note that the prices reductions of elder models phenom X4 proved to be even more generous, which as it was expected is up to 26%. Furthermore, other processors models fell in price to the value from 9% to 24%. The dual core processors athlon X2 5800+ was removed just like processors with rating lower than 5000+.

eam Group Releases New Overclocking Heroic Duo DDR3 Modules
Last week Team Group Inc. has launched two new DDR3 modules under its Xtreem series. Like most manufacturers do, every brand has a name for its high-end products, Dominator for Corsair, Ballistix for Crucial and so on. Team Group has decided to name its high-performance DDR3 parts "Overclocking Heroic Duo". The two new Heroic Duos are the Xtreem DDR3-2000 and DDR3-1800 available both as single modules or in matched dual-channel kits. The modules feature premium 8-layer PCB design, 128x8 chips in BGA package and special black aluminum TeamXtreem heatsinks. More importantly, the Xtreem DDR3-2000 operates at 9-9-9-24 (tCL-tRCD-tRP-tRAS) timings at only 1.9V. The Xtreem DDR3-1800 uses a timing parameter of 8-8-8-24, and optimal performance is also obtainable at 1.9V. In terms of capacity, besides in 4GB (2x2GB) and 2GB (2x1GB) kits, Team Group also sells single 1GB and 2GB modules. Before shipping to customers every Overclocking Heroic Duo module passes burn-in test for at least 24 hours on a wide range of overclocking platforms made by ASUS and GIGABYTE to ensure maximum compatibility. Both models are also equipped with built-in EPP (Enhance performance profiles) and XMP (Extreme memory profiles). Team Group provides users with lifetime warranty for both the Xtreem DDR3-2000 and Xtreem DDR3-1800
Later this year, Intel will launch three models of processors based on a newer socket, a newer architecture. The processors are based on the Nehalem-derived Bloomfield core, and require a compatible motherboard with the 1366-pin land grid array (LGA) socket. There are three models lined up, one in each category of extreme, performance and mainstream. They carry the Core i7 brand name and here are its model numbers:

The 965 is a Extreme series product that sits on the top of the pile, it should be the fastest desktop processor ever made. The 940 falls into the performance category, given its price. It is trailed by the 920 which seems to have the best price to clock speed, it falls into the mainstream category. A table explaining parameters in detail and model prices is provided.
