Corel Corporation today unveiled its newest CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 that claims to feature over 50 new and enhanced features.

The new graphics suite is the product of consultations with- and feedback from- several users from a wide variety of industries, according to Gerard Metrailler, director (Product Management) for graphics at Corel.

The live text formatting feature allows users to preview text formatting options before applying them to a document. The X4 suite integrates with WhatTheFont, an online font identification service from Using this, users can quickly identify fonts used in existing bitmap designs, artwork, or other images received from clients.

In CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4, users can control and edit layers independently for each page of a document. They can add independent guidelines for individual pages, and master guidelines for entire documents giving the flexibility to create layers on a page-specific basis.

With the interactive tables feature, users can create and import tables to provide a powerful, structured layout for text and graphics. They can align, resize, or edit tables and table cells to suit their designs.

Suite X4 is designed to take full advantage of the latest innovations in Windows Vista, while offering a superior graphics experience for Windows XP users. The suite integrates with Vista's desktop search capabilities directly from within the Open and Import Dialog boxes, enabling users to search for files by author, subject, file type, date, keywords, etc.

Corel's new graphics suite has the new CorelDRAW ConceptShare docker, which integrates a valuable online collaboration tool directly within user work-flow. ConceptShare lets users share their designs and ideas with colleagues or clients in real time.

The X4 suite adds support for Microsoft Office Publisher. It also offers seamless compatibility with Microsoft Word 2007, Adobe Illustrator, Creative Suite 3, Adobe Photoshop, etc.

The newbie graphics suite includes 80 professionally designed and customizable templates, giving users a springboard to the design process. Besides, it has a selection of new fonts to help users ensure their output is optimized for intended audiences.

A new Welcome screen provides users with a centralized location to access recently used documents, templates, and learning tools, including tips and tricks, and video tutorials.

Overall, the CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4 includes core applications including: CorelDRAW X4, an intuitive vector-illustration and page layout application; Corel Photo Paint X4, a professional image-editing application; Corel PowerTRACE X4, which helps users quickly and accurately convert bitmaps into editable vector graphics; Corel Capture X4, a one-click screen-capture utility; and CorelDRAW Handbook, which provides step-by-step guidance and design insights.

The suite also features training videos on illustration, design, and image-editing fundamentals; over 10,000 handpicked, high-quality clip-art and digital images; and 4,000 new images plus 1,000 high resolution digital photos plus 1,000 OpenType fonts. It comes with printed documentation and a digital content guide to help new users get started quickly.

In particular, Corel Photo Paint X4 has RAW camera file support, enabling users to import RAW camera files directly from their digital cameras. With the improved Photo Paint, users can quickly and easily straighten images that are scanned or photographed at an angle, etc.
