Goal; full-body motion capture of a person walking, wearing black clothing and glued polystyrene markers. All of the action takes place outdoors using only:
- natural light
- 4 USB VGA cameras connected to two laptops
- All cameras are handheld, moving and non synchronized
- With a typical frame rate of 25 fps.
The cameras surround the actor, with two placed at the front and two at the rear.
Following the starting signal, the camera operators start walking, following the actor's progression. All four cameras are moving independently. It is also worth noting, that these cameras do not have a viewfinder, and are therefore only pointed in the actor’s general direction increasing the amount of movement.
The final capture represents ten walking cycles.
II. Step
a. 2D Tracking
Following the capture, we load the 4 sequences into Movimento and synchronise them by entering the frame number of an identical frame from each sequence in the "synchronise at frame" dialog box.
We then proceed with the 2D tracking of the actor’s markers as welll as a static point, that will enable us to track the movement of each of the four cameras.
