نام پروژه : Single-person house in unused space in Myung-dong, Seoul

دانشگاه : University of Seoul, College of Urban Sciences - Program in Architecture - Seoul, Korea, South

طراح : Dongchoul Park

استاد راهنما :‌ chung ki, Lee

توضيحات : The continuing dissolution of the family and a large increase in single-person households present a new concept in society. Myung-dong Street in Seoul offers foreign-brand coffee shops, restaurants, boutiques, cinemas, and hairdressing salons. Although colorful, Myung-dong is expensive at more than $ 100,000 per square meter of ground. Myung-dong is Korea's primary regional tourism district, as well as its central business district. But it is a poor place in terms of residential environment, with many workers and disadvantaged people living here. This project provides a single-person house for them. It is possible to use the free interior space of a block. My goal is to regenerate unused space, improving the efficiency of the city as a whole. In the middle of the building, the Hanging Gardens form the air passages of the stack. It could be a communication space for residents of the building. The vertical flow of greenery offers a visual city park. In addition, the connection between buildings could be used as an emergency exit in case of fire, and could form an extension to the city park. My site is located in the middle of strip high-rise building. The concept of the building uses the density of Myung-dong with high density at low level, and low density at high level. This determines the size of the unit and the lighting. Because the buildings are surrounded on all sides, there ought to be public gardens, open on two sides.

عنوان پروژه : A Place under the Sun for Everyone

دانشگاه : Technische Universität Wien, Fakultät für Architektur und Raumplanung - Vienna, Austria

طراح : marlene wagner

استاد راهنما : Christian Kühn, Harald Trapp

توضيحات : The objective of this work is to analyze the spatial practice and spatial patterns of and between the unplanned and planned city. By pointing out the potential of non-formal systems, available capacities and the needs of the inhabitants, planning strategies for an integrated urban planning and appropriate architecture in areas weak on formal capacities can be generated. South Africa’s historical development created a strong socio-cultural practice of heteronymous and self-determined exclusion through behavioral settings, inhibiting interaction with other milieus. The showcase-housing project and my field of research, Cosmo City, aims at satisfying the high demand for affordable housing for the middle class, the low-income class and the urban poor in the northwestern part of Johannesburg. In the process, the constitutional right to adequate housing for all South Africans is honored and the integration and interaction between different income classes is addressed. The area has remarkable potential. On the one hand, one can observe the top-down planned strategies common in South African housing, while, on the other, the unplanned or non-formal spatial bottom-up processes are also obvious. In a two-month research period in Cosmo City in 2009, four and a half years after the ground-breaking ceremony and three and a half years after the first settlements took place, I could observe the urban development and become involved in an exchange with various participants. This study covers spatial configuration and the behavioral patterns assigned to the inhabitants in an unfamiliar cultural context and milieu. This basic vocabulary serves the purpose of identifying recurring patterns which can be categorized by correlating interpretation of size, form and function. These typologies generate significant city patterns between formal and non-formal spatial configuration. The focus lies on tools of perception and communication, with a view to reconsidering existing regulations on zoning, building plans and construction standards for the D.I.Y.- designed living situation.

توضيحات : Until the nineteenth century, the growth of Amsterdam was determined by the concentric rings of urban canals. The Wibautstraat is a strange street, being fifty meters wide. It was once a railway track. The buildings on both sides are a mere fifteen meters high, like the rest of Amsterdam. A start was made on ensembles of big buildings in the mid-sixties, as a response to the width of the street, but they clashed with the building blocks of the nineteenth-century ring. As a consequence people tend to read the street as if picturesque nineteenth-century housing was demolished in favor of modern office buildings. It couldn’t be further from the truth. The object of my project is to give the Wibautstraat the required height and to densify, without erasing the modern buildings. The main product of this project is a catalogue of new, dense building types based on the typical nineteenth-century building block. We start with the 5.6m.-wide and 12.5m-deep alcove house which fills half the plot. The front has a representative façade, the rear is more informal. Multiple plots are combined, and the whole plot is filled. This creates a problem because this leaves us with a 25-m.-deep space with no rear windows since it now connects to the backdoor neighbor. A cut needs to be made to allow light into the building. This is the starting point of the typology. It leaves us with a type consisting of a typical Dutch voorhuis and achterhuis (‘front and back house’ divided by a private courtyard). The ‘L’ shaped achterhuis only receives light from the courtyard and therefore is only 5 m deep, whereas the voorhuis receives light from the courtyard and the street and therefore is 10m. deep. This ‘logic of light’ is used for all types and generates different shapes on different sizes of plots. It becomes more interesting when the type is flipped to occupy the full width of the block. Now it’s possible to take a shortcut through it. So, the typology enriches the urban fabric: to the public street and private inner court it adds a third intermediate space of the courtyard – rare in Holland. The tower, as an extension of the achterhuis, relates to the big buildings.

توضيحات : The residential skyscraper in Paris provides high quality apartments that flexibly respond to changing needs of their inhabitants. Passive climate- regulating elements are an integral part of the design.

The concept is based metaphorically on the structure of an onion. The core accommodates the buildings stairs and elevators. The staircase is designed as a quadruple helix. One helix is configured as security stairwell. The remaining stairs can optionally be connected to the external or internal infrastructure. Two-storied courtyards are allocated on each floor in order to daylight the inner core. The living areas surround the core in two layers. The space allocation is generated by widening and shrinking the layers. A differentiated materialization of the layers in concrete and glass creates different atmospheres. Both introverted and extroverted rooms are day lighted either through partial openings or corner glazing that allow generous views over Paris.
The contact surface of both layers is energetically activated as a collector. Thus, passive climate regulating elements are an integral part of the concept. Multi-story gardens create vertical spatial relationships and in the corners the building transforms into a terraced structure in order to interlock with its environ

نام پروژه : Apart-Hotel Built with Recycled Materials to Rio De Janeiro´S City Center

دانشگاه : Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Faculdade de Arquitetura e Urbanismo - Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

طراح : Fagner Marçal

استاد راهنما : Flávia de Faria and Andréa Borde

توضيحات :
With an urban planning based on modernist principles, Rio de Janeiro was zoned, and his downtown was transformed into a Central Business District, expelling the residents who were there. Like other big cities in the world, Rio de Janeiro has its center in an over-estimation of its urban land that suffers from land speculation, and ultimately generate a huge amount of idle land that, in Brazil, are used as a rotary parking system but ultimately, it benefits the profitability of the land as an object of speculation and idle.

Brazil is the largest recycler of urban garbage in the world and in contradiction to this, there is a severe housing shortage that pervades the country and especially Rio de Janeiro, who suffers with the arrival of migrants from other areas of the country. Against a backdrop of global warming, energy saving and recycling of materials, the sector of the construction tries to adjust itself to new human context by building more and more with industrialized and standardized materials, with the finality to avoid the waste of materials but, this sector still do not works with build with recycled or reused materials.

This project focus on: bring residents to the Downtown while propose construction with recycled materials as a cheaper way to build, increasing the recycling of garbage in one of the most populous city of the world. In this context, the development of an innovative building system that utilizes the recycling of urban garbage, actually helps in the reduction of social inequality in the city, since it encourages that people living in poverty and misery, have the opportunity to work in cooperative systems, picking and sorting trash, generating revenue through this work, so a way to acquire a degree of citizenship and social inclusion that currently do not have.
